About Us
That Kitchen Shop was founded as "Kitchen & Company" in 1982 in Seattle, opening it’s first store at the South Center Mall. In 1987 and 1991, new stores were opened in Northgate and Alderwood Malls making "Kitchen & Company" one of the largest kitchenware retailer in Seattle.
In May of 2001, entrepreneur Dave Jennings purchased the company, revitalizing it and re-branding it as That Kitchen Shop, a place to shop for all of us who love to cook!
That Kitchen Shop was chosen as the store name in part as a nod to the company’s 20 year history as the “go to” place for kitchenware in Seattle. Many shoppers did not recognize the name “Kitchen & Company” but know very well the fact that “that kitchen shop” in the mall was the place to buy anything you need for your kitchen, from knowledgeable and friendly staff who know their business.
In 2004, Dave decided to open That Kitchen Shop Cabinets. His idea was to bring two of the major aspects of your kitchen together; the kitchenware and the space where you put them.
